This is a new beginning for me, in a way, but in a way, it’s not. It’s really just me continuing down this path that the Lord is leading me down. The new part probably has more to do with me actually following the Lord and trusting Him as I seek to do His will. I have been in the IT (information technology) field for the past 10 years in many differnt roles. I have also been active in my church during this same time frame in various ministry and leadership roles and I have become aware that churches, in general, do not use technology as effectively as they could. Not that I expect the church to entertain me with the use of technology or that I expect the church to use technology because that is the world I live in at the office and at home. My point is this- technology, in many ways, is a tool that can be used to reach the world for Christ. This is true concerning the local community the church is in as well as the world, in a truly literal sense.
So the point of this blog is to offer insight and information about how the church can effectively use technology to bring church members into a closer relationship with Christ and reach the local community and the world, literally, for Christ.
This doesn’t only mean looking at technology on the cutting edge, although that’s cool stuff and we will do our share of that, but a bigger part of this is helping the church handle basic tasks, such as internet security, virus protection, pc maintenance etc. We can also discuss anything else that is relevant to you. I hope this becomes an interactive place where we can discuss anything that will help you.
The verse listed above in the blog header, Romans 12:2 is fitting and this fits well with where God is leading me.
Verses 1 & 2(The Message):
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
So, here I am, taking my everyday, ordinary life and placing it before God as an offering. I am leaving this blog in His hands to make it what He wants it to be.

Comments:
I recently used the mail merge feature in MS Word for a church project. Apparently, the church management system doesn’t do to well with its own mail merge functionality. I was able to export the data needed to MS Excel from the church management system and then use MS Word to output the data to a form letter. It was quick and easy. Might be a good future topic.
