Personalize Your Google

Google is clearly one of the more innovative companies around and they don’t sit still, always moving forward into new stuff. Some of their new things are not worth spending much time on, but that will happen when you are pushing the envelope the way they are. Much of what they do is cool and can make our lives easier. According to Google Blog, we can now personalize the Google homepage. Normally, when Google does something, they do it right, in a big way. You can choose to display the following:

      Gmail
      stock market
      New York Times
      BBC news
      Google news
      Weather
      Wired News
      Slashdot
      Movies
      Driving Directions
      Quote of the day
      Word of the day

This is something that is easy and practical. I’m all over this one. As an added bonus, you drag and drop each module you have displayed to place them where you want on the page. What does this have to do with your church? Well, it’s just another tool that is available and free. This is something you can easily pass on to your users that they can set up how they like it. Obviously, you may have some users that have never heard of Google (maybe that’s a little extreme) but there are those who are not as computer literate and this may not mean a thing to them. But for others, they will be all over this. I know part of what I do is simply pass information along about tools and technology just as a heads up, so whenever I see cool, useful stuff, I’m all about passing that along.”
