More on small churches

Check out Anthony Coppedge’s recent post, exploring the idea of church plants vs. video venues etc. It really struck a cord with me, as I am at a similar place. This is really becoming much more real than I ever imagined, at least in my mind. The small church has really grabbed my attention recently and I am totally pumped about Sunday(see previous post). I found out tonight from Mary that this Sunday is actually their kickoff weekend, a big celebration for them, they are moving into a new location. I know they have been working like crazy getting the new place cleaned up and fixed up, so our timing couldn’t have been better.

I hope to come out of there with a better insight to how this church startup works. Anthony is questioning what happens to a church plant after a year, or some time frame, does the plant separate and become it’s own entity or does the mother church retain some influence and control indefinitely. Go read his post, I may have just butchered his point, unintentionally. If you have other comments on new church startups, please share, especially if you have been there, done that. Also, share on Anthony’s post if you have insight to church plants, video venues etc. I don’t want to steal his thunder at all, but I hope between all of us, we can learn and grow.”
