What a fun day this was……yesterday, the big birthday was pretty uneventful, we all went and did some shopping, then we were reminded of the air show going on when we saw planes flying all around. So we headed closer to the airport, remembered some friends who live right across from the airport, we cruised to their place and crashed the party. That was fun.
Today, I was at church early, Mary came a little later, we got our signals crossed, meaning I probably didn’t listen when we discussed it, but I went to Sunday School during second hour and she went to big church. A little later, I was wandering around looking for her, everyone, literally everyone said, oh yeah, I just saw her a little bit ago. We finally hooked up awhile after that service. During my wandering, I introduced myself to a guy who was reading his Bible in fellowship hall. I had never seen him before, we discovered we had both been at this church for years, he longer than me, but it’s wild you can spend every week at a church and not know many people. That what growth causes, especially at the rate we seem to be growing. Many services and many things going on at once and me being out of my usual place. It’s probably not a bad idea to get out more, once in awhile, meet some new people.
Anyway, after church, we headed out to Tulsa to see the in-laws and my parents to celebrate Father’s day with the dad’s. We had a great lunch, (shout out to Michael, my bro in law, who reads this blog regularly), then we went to my parents house and helped them clean some stuff up on their new Dell PC. Once we were done we headed to Incredible Pizza for dinner and that’s kind of a Chuck E. Cheese’s on steroids, plus the pizza is actually good(so is the pasta, salad, lasagne, desert and everything else on the buffett).
Then you can buy a game card, kind of like a WalMart shopping card and put money on it to play video games, putt putt, bowling, go karts. So we did that and my girls wanted to do the go karts. So we got them all set up, they are not old enough to do the fast race, so they did the slow race. The oval track is probably 50-75 feet long, not big at all. As I was waiting for them to race, I watched a fast race, and I had this overwhelming urge to get out there. So I went and paid up and got myself strapped into my car for the fast race, my family watching on the other side of the glass. I was in the second row on the inside and I was rarin’ to go. I was a distant second for a couple of laps, then I was closing in on #1 but she was playing tough. I also had a nice gentleman tapping me from behind because I wouldn’t couldn’t let him on the inside since I was trying to nudge my way in. After a harder tap on turn 4, I was about to take my rightful position in 1st, coming around turn 1, when dufus the nice man behind me tapped my left rear corner, pushing me into the inside wall and into the #1 car simultaneously, causing me to spin out, stopping the race. Once I was re-situated, the race continued, however I was now in 4th, because no regard was given for my position pre-crash.
So, I lost…..I should’ve called for a rematch! It was fun but I’m extremely sore after being knocked around like that. I was feeling it even before the big crash. That was a blast, we are definitely doing that again. Mary said I was looking pretty intense every time I came around and she reminded me I lost to a girl.
Tulsa’s nice to visit, but we are definitely glad we don’t live there anymore. It’s always changing though and of course, Incredible Pizza opened up after we left. The Springfield one is actually closer to us now and that’s mainly what the website speaks of, there is no acknowledgement of Tulsa, but I guess that’s ok, we know it’s there and now you do too. The cool thing about this place is that it is owned by Christians and there are big screen tv’s all around with Christian videos and music cranked up. I know I heard Chris Tomlin and others. It’s not common these days to go to a business that is openly Christian, so that is cool.
We happened to drive past our old church, which is in the same part of town and that was fun. We need to get back sometime soon for a visit, it’s probably been over a year…..time flies.
I’ve got some good stuff rolling around in my head coming up, things I’m working on at church, so I will post more soon, but for now I gotta go to bed!
Congratulations Bro on your birthday!! Ahh, reading about your good adolescent grown-up fun reminded me of a couple of Bachelor parties (Christian, mind you) where we did much the same thing with go carts. It was super-thrilling. BTW, nice job on plugging good Christian businesses – I’m going to take your lead and plug one on my blog.
Hey Stuart, it’s great to see you out here again. I seriously have wondered where you went. I was going to post a comment on your blog this morning but it won’t let me unless I have a blogger account, so I wasn’t able to.
I’m looking forward to reading more from you!
