Anthony Coppedge has a great post today titled “Does the Church Need AVL Technology?”
Years ago, while I was on staff at my second church, I met a foreign missionary couple who worked in South America and then South Africa. I asked them what it was like to be a missionary. The husband looked at me with a smile and said, “I was going to ask you the very same question!” I stumbled for a reply, because that was the last thing I expected him to say. He continued: ….
You gotta read the whole thing, it is very much worth it.
He concludes:
So, in the context of reaching my culture, yes, the church needs to use AVL technology in two ways: 1) To support the message and 2) to help create weekend experiences (enhancement). So the next time you see that pony-tailed guy mixing audio or setting lights or running camera, realize that you’re looking at a potential indigenous missionary to America!
By the way, not all of us are capable of having a pony-tail, so it might be a bald guy you see!
Nice teaser! I think you may have created a new linking technique in blogging. Instead of paraphrasing somebody else’s article, or providing an “in your words” with “my related experience” introduction, or even saying “Just read a great article, here’s the link” – you totally created a, a… BLOGHANGER!!! Just like a cliffhanger leaves a viewer craving next season’s resolution, you pasted just enough of Anthony’s actual article to create interest and then left us hanging with our mouse pointers on the link.
You gave credit to the source, created interest in the subject, and piled on the motivation to go visit Anthony’s blog. I’m breaking this down and, my man, you have just created an art form! Bravo!
Thank you, you are too kind. It sounds like I achieved my objective. I hate when an entire post is quoted on another blog and I also didn’t want to give away his point, so I settled on what I did.
Anthony’s post was definitely worth the click thru.
