You’ve got to check this out, this is cool! As a result of Clif Guy‘s comment on Web Empowered Church CMS Pre-release out (disclaimer: the preceding link is a link to my own site. I currently have issues with links to myself within Bloglines, I hope this one works like it should but you may get blasted out to never never land The link works….woohoo), I clicked thru to his links and several links later found Tech Shop Ministry. Clif Guy is with Church of the Resurrection in the Kansas City area and they actually use Web Empowered Church CMS and speaks very highly of it. Their website is powered by Typo3, the same CMS(C=Content) as the Web Empowered Church CMS(C=Church). Typo3 is a free, open-source content management framework, licensed by GNU/GPL.
If you are a tech person in a methodist church, you seriously need to get acquainted with all that your denomination is doing to help you in this area. Check out United Methodist Communications also. That’s actually how I got to Tech Shop Ministry.
There is Tools for Learning, with Tips and Tricks and How-To’s. Also, Help/Support with FAQ and Support.
According to their site:
Purpose:
- Equip ministry organizations to better spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through technology
- Provide these organizations with competetive pricing for professional technology hardware and software
- Lead ministries into the digital age
This is cool! They are really providing tools for their churches to get the most out of technology. Somewhere, while clicking around, there is some sort of church management tool that looked intriguing. I need to go back and find it but honestly, I am exhausted and getting ready to go to bed at 8:30. Very unusual for me, but I have been tired all day and 5:00am tomorrow comes quick.
So, check all of this out, see what there is to see.
Any other denominations have resources like this? I’m curious now.
The UMC Tech Shop has good pricing … but I’ve always been able to get even better pricing straight from CDW.com
YMMV,
