RSS Feed Update

Posted on February 1, 2006

UPDATE: It appears I am still having trouble with my feeds, feedburner included.  If you are reading this, you are in the minority, I’m not exactly sure what’s up, but it appears to have started yesterday.  The posts before yesterday all showed up as they should.  Stay tuned…….

If you are reading this via RSS feed, that is a good thing. I’m hoping I didn’t totally mess things up, if I did it right and the steps I followed cause things to function as they say they will, then all of my feeds should now lead to Feedburner.

I’ve had more than one person ask if I changed my feed and my answer is no, not that I’m aware of. If you’ll recall, earlier in January, my blog was inadvertantly blown away and I restored all posts from early December and that seems to be when the questions started arising. The bottom line is if my feed has changed, I’m not aware of it.

By the way, a cron job runs every night and emails me a backup of my database, so life is good, in that regard.

I have been frustrated with WordPress the entire time I have used it because I am not able to just have a single feed. I started using Feedburner, thinking that would help but all that seems to have done is add another feed to the list.

So here is my plea. If you actually are reading this, please verify that your feed is this one:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/ChurchTechMatters

If it’s not, please change it to this one, if you don’t mind. Feedburner gives me alot of great stats. As I mentioned, I have made some changes that should redirect all feeds to Feedburner, but I have yet to be able to confirm that. What I do know is that there are 26 of you subscribed to a different feed besides Feedburner on Bloglines and others using other readers, I’m sure.

Enough groveling, I don’t like doing this, but I’m such a numbers freak and I wish Feedburner reflected all of my readers. I know who some of you are that are subscribed to other feeds and I’m keeping an eye on you.

Whatever, I really don’t care, but if you are feeling generous, I will appreciate the switch to Feedburner.

Now, all of this talking of feeds is making me hungry, then I’m off to bed.

Wow, yet another design. Very nice!

I’m reading via RSS and show the FB link as the guiding URL. Did you get Steve Smith’s FB plugin for WP?

You could also pull some .htaccess trickery to get the other feeds pointing to FB. Let me know if I can help. I did this recently on my blog after converting from another system. Works like a champ and Feedburner tracks it all nicely.

Also, WP 2.0.1 is out if you didn’t see the announcement.

Hello Jim, feel free to email me directly with any problems you may be experiencing. We’ve made a few changes over the past few days that have fixed a lot of issues that folks are seeing (specifically with big aggregators like Bloglines and the such).
