Beyond my day job, I’m doing alot of work on the side. That’s a good thing and a bad thing. It’s good because it’s starting to be a source of decent income and it’s doing something I really enjoy, but it’s bad because I’m busier than ever. Last week, I spent every evening at some business or someone’s house, plus Saturday and not getting home til after 10 every night. This week is ending up being the same, the only difference is, in addition to being somewhere working every night this week, I’ve got 2 appointments already on Saturday. In the middle of all this, we traveled 4 hours on Sunday to our girls’ state gymnastics meet, watched them compete and drove 4 hours home. Exhaustion settled in on me pretty hard by last night and fortunately, my second appointment cancelled, so I went home and was in bed by 8:30.
Mary and I discussed about a year ago that there may be a time when I’m working constantly, but that is what it might take for me to reach my goal of doing my own thing fulltime. We knew at that time that we would have to be deliberate about making family time a priority. Well, that’s where we are right now. So, it’s a two-edged sword and God is seriously providing opportunities.
So what? Why am I telling you this? This is leading into an observation, so stay with me.
Actually, I just chopped the second half of this post to make it part 2 and I’m still no where near the end. So, let’s call this a series on client relationships (it actually applies to any relationship, friends, volunteers, clients, probably spouse etc.)
I’ve got a ton of stuff to say about this because I’m seeing myself in a position where I am the one driving the relationship between me and my clients, if I actually want it, and I do, so I’ve got to make it work. The point to this ‘relationship series’ is probably obvious, it’s all about relationships and getting the most out of them.
So stay tuned, there is more to come.
Can’t wait to read all of this as I am looking at the same thing. Just want to get the opportunities started now

Hey Darrell, I hope what I’ve got to say will help you. I know we are both wanting to go the same direction and I do have alot to say about what I’m learning and seeing. It is a slow process to build a network up, that’s for sure, but I think once you get some momentum, it progresses more quickly.
We can walk down this road together and help each other along.
I think we have an opportunity to help each other, Fellas! Ecclesiastes 4:12b
Awesome Stu!
