Projector Blues

Last Wednesday night we spent a couple of hours trying to get a laptop connected to a projector for kid’s worship with no success.  At the time, the diagnosis was either a bad S-video cable, that was already run across the ceiling and down the wall, or a bad S-video port on the laptop  Since we only had the S-video cable, we left it at that.  This morning, I rummaged thru my box of cables that I have and found the one I wanted, a dual male VGA cable, about 10ft long.  I also grabbed another S-video, a USB cable and just for fun, my dual male DVI cable.  I knew the projector had a DVI port and also knew we had no other hardware in the building with DVI, but you never know.
The projector is mounted up in the ceiling and is pulled down on a spring mounted hinge, but since I wasn’t up in the ceiling where I could see all the buttons, I brought the projector down to the table so I could mess with the settings and get it all set just right.  (It would be nice if we had the remote.) The VGA cable worked like a champ.  The only downside is that it’s not run across the ceiling and down the wall, so we will have to setup slightly different than planned.  But, it’s all good.

We did some other planning and chatting about future plans.  There’s a lot of work to be done in the technical arena here and I hope to be involved in it.  I’ll be blogging about it and I’ll be sharing some of what we are doing and possibly looking for some direction or feedback on some things.

I’m ordering a ceiling mount projector from for the Technology Lab at the school in the next couple of days. When it arrives, maybe I’ll hit you up for some installation guidance.
