A Vacation Day Well Spent

Update: This is reposted from yesterday, this post was lost due to server issues and this site had to be restored from backup.

—-Today Yesterday was a good day. I’m tired, since I’ve been going non-stop since about last Thursday, at least, but today was fun. In addition to my job, I spend much of my free time doing freelance computer consulting for churches and small businesses and one place I do contract work for is the IT department at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS.

Generally, I do this work from home, in the evenings and Clif and I chat back and forth about current issues or concerns. I live 2 hours south of Kansas City, so working remotely works well for me, but it is good to be onsite occassionally to address things head on, enlighten me on things I need to know and to just have some face time and be able to interact with the group.

Today I spent the day with Clif and the gang and it was fun and productive. This is seriously one of the most eclectic group of geeks I have ever been associated with, and by far, the most talented. These people are focused on the task at hand and do what it takes to get the job done, they each work seemingly independent of each other, yet they willingly help each other out when necessary. It’s refreshing to see things done this way.

One thing that I have known, but have not followed through on very well is that I need to be intentional on getting up to COR on a more regular basis, probably once every couple of months.  It’s a nice break for me, from my day to day routine and it’s good to be onsite to see the work that’s going on there.
Thanks Clif and everyone for putting up with me today.
