VBS 2006

Posted on August 5, 2006 by Jim Walton

Today ended VBS and it is a huge relief and a letdown, of sorts.  There have been many hours of work put into making this week fun for the kids and a time to learn more about Jesus and make Him real in their lives.  The theme was Wild About God and the setting was in the jungle.  Every evening was packed with music, skits, crafts, Bible study, games and more.  When the curtains closed on Friday night, that was the end of VBS and the beginning of the lock-in.

It was a fun night and a few of us actually made it through the night without falling asleep, which was my first all nighter in many years.  I slept for a few hours this morning and I hope by tomorrow, I am fully recovered.

VBS has been a time for us personally to meet some new people in our church and to connect with some that we had already met.  It’s all good, especially since we are still fairly new to this church and still don’t know many people.

The above pic is taken from the second floor sound booth, which is a great view of everything going on below.
In the end, it all ends pretty quick and now life can get back to a somewhat normal schedule.  All 3 girls crashed at home at about 9:30 this morning and they are still sleeping 6 hours later, they also had 8 hours a day of gymnastics camp this week, on top of VBS every night on top of staying up most of the night.  So they are beyond exhaustion.  (The third girl is almost part of our family but not quite.  She’s with us alot, due to gymnastics and being friends and she has been with us all week.  By tonight, we should be back to normal, whatever that is.)

Glad your week went well. I know the feeling at the end of a VBS week. We have never had a lock-in with it before. That has to be interesting!

It was also good to see a picture of your church since we haven’t seen it yet. The whole transformed church sanctuary thing looks familiar, though. Get some rest! See ya later!
