I had a similar experience (or two) a few years back. It does wake you up. It's also amazing what eating right will do for your acid reflux. I haven't had heart burn or reflux for months now ever since I started eating carefully.

One time when I went into the ER with chest pain an Osteopath was on duty. For those who don't know, an Osteopath is like a regular M.D. but with additional training in spinal manipulation and other natural treatments. This guy worked on my back for about 5 minutes and then cracked my back (I felt it poping all the way down my spine!) and most of the pressure went away almost instantly.

That said, eating right is the only thing that will make a permanent difference. Take care of your self!
