Tour of Churches

Yesterday was a long day, it started at 5am. I don’t see 5am very often and my family sees it even less than I do, however we all had the opportunity to enjoy this dark time of day. We were going to Tulsa to drop our kids off with my parents so they could all go to the fair and decided to head over early and visit our old church. Due to the way our day was scheduled we determined we needed to go to the early service, which is 8:15. Since we are at least 2 hours away, we had to be on the road by 6, but it was totally worth it. It was good to be back home, at our home church, that is. I might have mentioned this before, the hardest thing about leaving Tulsa was leaving that church and we don’t get back to visit near enough. You know it’s good when we can justify getting up at 5am to be there.

They just started podcasting and if you want to hear some good, Biblical, in depth teaching, check it out here. I’m biased, but this is a podcast you should download and include in your rotation, it is solid and relevant teaching. Based on the last few weeks, yesterday’s sermon should be up this afternoon.

After lunch, we dropped the girls off with my parents and had time to do whatever we wanted, so what did we do? We went to church again! This time, it was to a church we had never been to before.

I need to preface this by saying that there is no competition between bloggers, normally, but one thing I can not do is let Brad of Churchonomics out do me. :) Last week, he gave a great review of LifeChurch.tv with many behind the scenes details. After hearing about that and realizing that I was going to be in Tulsa, we decided we needed to check it out. We didn’t get any behind the scenes look, but that’s ok, we just wanted to visit and experience it.

Read Brad’s post for all the details, but one thing that makes LifeChurch.tv unique is that the majority of their services are done via video. So, after singing worship songs with a live band, we watched the teaching on 3 giant screens. Then at the end, the campus pastor came out and closed things up.

Multi-campus churches are a growing trend and I am really fascinated by the video campus concept, there is huge potential in this, both for LifeChurch.tv and otherwise. The concept of a video campus is intriguing, it makes me really consider the possibilities.
Finally, a fascinating point, both sermons we heard yesterday were on fellowship and the need to fellowship. We, as the body of Christ, need to encourage each other and lift each other up in prayer, as well as support each other in tangible ways. There is one thing we feel like we are missing at our current church and that is fellowship! What is God telling us? I don’t know, but it sure is exciting to see God moving and leading us and speaking to us through 2 different, totally unrelated sermons.

Haven’t you been interested in the video campus concept (along with other concepts)?

Glad you guys were able to go back to the church in Tulsa! I know how much you miss it. Were you able to catch up with some of your former fellow members (you know, fellowship with them?

Yes I have been interested in the video campus concept and I’m more interested in it these days.

We saw some friends yesterday but being the early service, we missed many of the old time regulars.

  3. LifeChurch is awesome. I’ve visited there twice. I’ve been to several multi-site churches, but Life technically, does it the best of any I’ve seen. Very impressive.
