Assess Me is a pretty cool site. David emailed me recently and gave me some information about it, so I gave it a try. It offers the following assessments:
- ePersonality – Personality Test
- Grace Gifts – Spiritual Gifts Test
- Leadership Style – Team Building Test
- Skills – Skills Tracking Tool
- Candidate Search – Search Engine for Candidates
The tests are very thorough, I found out my top 3 grace gifts are New Ministry Development, Administration and Teaching. My leadership style is Strategic and my ePersonality is Planner. I guess I need to go back and do the skills test. Being a planner pretty well nails me, here’s an excerpt from the description:
The Planner is typically an intellectual, often with almost genius capabilities.
Those of you that know me, would agree, I’m sure.
It also says that planners are hard to manage and independent and that’s probably true, as well. All of the results I got really confirm my strengths and weaknesses and encourage me in some things I’m working on right now. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that new ministry development is a strength, considering where I’m at and where it seems that God is leading me, considering I’m working on a couple of different, new ministry related things right now.
At the end of the assessment, it will give a thorough description of the results, as well as your strengths and weaknesses. I know many churches do this kind of thing, but this is a resource that pulls it all together and gives your church or ministry a way to track your members.
Go to my portal page and register, if you want. Then, give it a test drive, I think you will like it. If you go through my portal, and register, that will put you under my ministry, which is fine with me. You will have full access to your results and so will I. So, do that if you want, I would love to see how it all fits together. I only have 4 more spaces, so act now!
The portal was super easy to setup, by the way and seeing mine will give you an idea of how it would look once it’s integrated into your site.
You can also register your own ministry and have 5 spaces to give it a try. One cool thing about this is that you can search for a certain skill or gift and find the people that fit. Isn’t that better than begging for nursery workers from the pulpit?
Assess Me is a part of E-Church Essentials and that site is full of alot of useful tools to enhance an online ministry, as well.
So, give it a shot and share your results here if you want to.
This type of resource is needed in larger churches. This data definetely should be kept in a church’s DB. I need/want to add this type of data to our database.
This is a lot better than having individuals fill-out numerous tests. And having to store those tests in filing cabinets.
Have been talking recently w/ Church Admin on the process for recruiting volunteers: specifically how to incorporate assessments.
Our church needs to be a lot more proactive in recruiting.
I have to admit that I’m not crazy about a .org that is pretty much a business.
But other than that, the tests at least look interesting. Not sure if I’d take them personally though.
