Freely Get. Freely Give.

CrazyChurch.com is an interesting site, check out this quote from their manifesto:

Shouldn’t there be a way for creative churches to freely share ideas and tools God has given them with the church at large? After all, what will change the world faster, if we keep selling our ideas to each other, or give them away? Not “B-game, good enough for church” kind of stuff, but the best stuff from the edge of God’s work. And then see how others spin and mold it for their work. There’s still a place for some things that need to be sold when there’s no other option. It just shouldn’t be the first option. We need an open source attitude with God’s ideas.

The resources they are sharing include Sermons (mp3 and text), as well as materials for small groups, kids and youth and even church leadership.

One of the FAQ’s goes something like this:

Can I modify the materials I find on CrazyChurch.com?

Yes. Absolutely. That’s the whole point. Take what you find here and make it your own with the thumbprint of your church. Then send us back what you did with it. That way others can benefit from your creative work. Just be sure to follow the usage guidelines you’ll find at the bottom of every work.

This is a similar model to LifeChurch.tv Open, where they openly share many of their resources for other churches to use. Both of these sites are great resources for all churches, large or small and I think the church, as a whole, will reach more people more effectively as we begin sharing resources in the way that these sites encourage.

Look around and get familiar with CrazyChurch.com. Their manifesto goes on to say:

It may not work. We’ve certainly heard every argument why this isn’t doable. But how about we give it a try? If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God.

Sounds alot like 2 Corinthians 5:13: If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.

In the end, this is a good way to sum it up, just as their manifesto states:

If we get to the end of our lives and the Internet is mostly known as a place to get porn for free and sermons for $5, something’s gone terribly wrong.
