Waiting On Dell…

Posted on January 5, 2007 by Jim Walton

For the record, I wrote the ‘Where is Dell…‘ post out of frustration with the particular situation and secretly hoping that someone at Dell would take notice and make it right. I normally don’t pile on a company or anyone personally, so to be fair, I want to address the other side of Dell.

For the most part, Dell computers are reliable and stable. I’ve worked with, installed, configured, troubleshooted (troubleshot?) and otherwise supported many Dell computers. At my last church, in the 2 year period I was volunteering there, we went from having about 20 computers, less than half Dell, to having nearly 50 desktops, 100% Dell and the only issue in that time was 1 failed hard drive on a new Dell.

My parents have bought 2 Dells in the last year, 1 desktop and 1 laptop and so far, things are good. Dell is great for people like my parents who are new to the world of computers because they are super easy to pick one out and order it online or by phone.

Honestly, I’m hoping to buy a new laptop in the next couple months and I’m drawn to Dell for myself, my Mom’s Inspiron e1505 is pretty slick, it’s way faster than my laptop now! Although, I bet Lenovo can hold it’s own, I can be swayed either way, at this point.
My point is that Dell has a track record for reliability and ease of use/purchase. Rex Hammock points out 10 reasons why Apple does not get the negative press that Dell gets and his #1 is a solid point:

In the corporate marketplace, where PCs run “mission critical” operations, Macs rarely sit on “mission critical” desks. In those places, Dells are easy to be found.

Check out his other 9 points, as well.
So, there you have it, a little Dell love for you. When they work, life is good but when things go bad, look out!
The end.

Go back to your lives

Nothing more to see here.

Ok, Dell, now will you help me out, everything I said last time is still true, alot of frustration all the way around, but I’m hoping that by spreading some Dell love, you’ll help me out. I’m easily swayed, I would be a huge fan if you just stepped up a little bit. I know you already have my email address and phone number, but here they are again, just in case.
