It’s time to come clean. The other day, a couple of us that were not able to attend the Church IT Roundtable were IM’ing and decided to simultaneously offer to help get more posts to come out of the event, fix the wi-fi connection or whatever else might be broken. (like there wasn’t a massive amount of technical knowledge already assembled under one roof!) At least one other person attempted to join in, but ended up having some technical difficulties. I guess our spoofed attempt to help might have been perceived more if we could have gotten a few more participants.
I do understand how busy the event was and how beneficial it was and also that blogging the event was not necessarily a priority. The notes and thoughts that have come out so far are great and I look forward to seeing some more as people get home and catch up on their rest and get caught up.
We’ve already started discussing the fall Church IT Roundtable, to take place at COR in Kansas City on October 3-4. One idea is to make it more virtual, for those that can’t make it to the actual event. It would be cool to network with some churches around the country where they would receive a live video feed and your local church IT people in your community could assemble to take part and even participate. Clif gives some details of his initial thoughts here and I know there was speculation that it might be discussed a little bit this week in Houston. There is a lot to work out between now and then but if we can pull off even some of the ideas that are floating around out there, it will be very cool and further enhance what’s already begun.
I am planning to be there this fall, but don’t let that sway you from coming! Make plans now.
