SW Missouri Church IT Roundtable
Posted on May 4, 2007
For several years now, Bryson and I have been in this area doing our own thing, knowing that we wanted to do more. We indirectly crossed paths and we knew of each other, but never actually met until a few weeks ago. We met less than a week before the Church IT Roundtable in Houston, which Bryson went to, and that just added fuel to the fire. I think we would be doing this with or without the bigger roundtable, but it sure does help building off of that momentum.
So, we have initial plans to begin something, yet we’re not even sure what it will form into exactly. This Saturday, tomorrow, May 5, 2007 at 9:00am, we are having a planning meeting at Panera on 32nd in Joplin. Bryson has a great post about it here, he does a good job of expressing our intentions.
Our hearts are similar, we want to help more than just our own church and we both realize that there are a bunch of smaller churches that have technical issues and there are volunteers that need some assistance or guidance or encouragement. We want to create a group where we can get together regularly, hang out, share ideas, do some projects that impact many churches and reach out to the unchurched community.
Bryson and I will be a Panera tomorrow morning at 9, will you? Panera is easy to find, if you don’t know exactly where it is, my number is here, give me a call or send me an email. Panera is a central location, plus it has free wi-fi and that’s always good. Why do we need wi-fi? Because we’re geeks and we always need it, I’m sure we’ll find a reason to need to be online.
Oh yeah, I kind of expanded beyond Bryson‘s description, calling this the SW Missouri Church IT Roundtable. I want this to reach out to as large of an area as possible and I would love for certain people who are not that far away to get here. If not tomorrow then next time.
Join us! It’s not just for pure geeks, it’s for anyone involved in technology in church at any level.
