WP Upgrade, MyChurch plug-in Installed

Last night, I finally upgraded WordPress to 2.2.  I read a lot of good things about this release, but I don’t recall the details now.  I honestly thought there would be some noticeable improvements or changes with the backend, but I’m not seeing anything.

This site was down last night for probably 2 hours while I got everything lined up, I started FTP’ing the files at Panera, then had to leave, so during my travel home, and about the next 30 minutes, my site was not existent.

But, now it’s back.  A big motivation for upgrading was because I was asked a little over a month ago to beta test a plugin from MyChurch, which will automatically display a passage of Scripture with a link to the reference.  It is not compatible with WP 2.0, so now I’m where I need to be for that.

Let’s put it through the motions.  The verses I have used as the basis for this blog since the beginning is this one:

12:1 For this reason I make request to you, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you will give your bodies as a living offering, holy, pleasing to God, which is the worship it is right for you to give him. 12:2 And let not your behaviour be like that of this world, but be changed and made new in mind, so that by experience you may have knowledge of the good and pleasing and complete purpose of God.
Romans 12:1-2 BBE

Here’s another version of it:

12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2 RSV

Another:

12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, `which is’ your spiritual service. 12:2 And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1-2 ASV

And if I’m feeling in a King James kind of mood, here’s the final version:

12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:1-2 KJV

Very nice!  I will definitely be making good use of this plug-in and put it through the motions.  I’m not sure if other versions will be available, but I’m sure they will let me know if and when they are.

Thank you Joe, for offering to let me try the plug-in and thank you Cary, for your technical assistance in determining I needed to upgrade.  This plug-in will be available soon, once all the bugs are worked out and so far, I see no bugs.

Thank you for patiently beta testing and working with us Jim. This is the only WP plugin (that we know of) that integrates right into the editor as an icon. Thus version 2.11+ was needed.

Funny timing – I was just about to ping you to see what the status was. We’ll probably release this to the WP plugin library in a couple weeks.
