Clif’s post is an amazing testimony to the power of technology in ministry as well as in crisis. As the efforts increased to find Kelsey Smith, Clif and his team put together a website to serve as a single point of communication online. The outcome is truly tragic for her family and friends, however, the story behind this site is amazing, not only from a technical perspective, but also a ministry perspective. At it’s peak, on Wednesday, the site was receiving over 1000 pageviews per minute and that is amazing.
We built a site that went from nothing to #5 on Google and then to obsolete in three days.
This site ultimately gave people a place to share sorrow and give support to the family in a new way. Maybe this type of thing has occurred in similar situations, but this one is just closer to home, plus Clif is a friend of mine and his family was very close to this situation.
Read Clif’s recap of events here and please visit the new site, where you can continue to support the family via e-mail and of course, prayer is still the best thing most of us can do for this family.
42:8 But the Lord will send his mercy in the daytime, and in the night his song will be with me, a prayer to the God of my life.
