I am an SOB!

Posted on July 23, 2007

I have been given the SOB award, which stands for Successful and Outstanding Blogger and I am now in the company of many other great blogs.

What is an SOB, according to Liz Strauss?

When the SOB program started, I was looking for a way to encourage the sense of community that Successful-Blog stood for. We’re all about relationships and conversation here. The conversations are fun, fast, and sometimes irreverent. Discussions on the blog often brought up good ideas, and I wanted to make sure those ideas continued and become more out in the blogosphere–everyone making everyone a little bit better. It’s the only way that we can make ourselves strong here in what they call “The Magic Middle.” We talk to each other and we listen too.

I have seen this award at her site and she even encourages anybody to e-mail her and request to be given this award. I considered groveling for it, but decided that’s not how I wanted to get something like this, so I moved on and didn’t look back. Thanks to Google Alerts, I was surprised and honored to learn yesterday that she actually named me as an SOB! (Probably not the first time I’ve been called that, but in this case, it’s a good thing!)

This is what Liz says about those of us who have earned this award:

They take the conversation to their readers,
contribute great ideas, challenge us, make us better, and make our businesses stronger.

I thank every one of our SOBs for thinking what we say is worth passing on.

Good conversation shared can only improve the blogging community.

Thank you, Liz! (You can call me an SOB anytime!)

It encourages me to be given this award and I hope I continue to live up to this standard. God has given me the passion and endurance to begin this blog and continue writing and He deserves all the praise, much more than I do.

    Hiya, Jim!
I had no idea that you even knew me. That’s so cool. Welcome to the “family.” I really do think your blog is something special. Keep thinking and going deep . . . too many folks are finding it too easy to stay at the shallow end of the thinking pool. :)
