My A.D.D. Night
Posted on September 28, 2007
So, I got home from work and hung around waiting for my family to get home. Among other things, I let my dog watch me play fetch, you know, throw the rope bone, we both stand there looking across the yard, I run and get it, being the example, and run back and drop it at her feet. She wags her tail and looks at me probably thinking she has me so well trained.
Finally, I make the call. Mary and the girls are 20 miles away, in the “city” shopping, then going to get something to eat. I was invited but I declined, told her I was good. What I was hearing was that I had the next few hours to myself, to do whatever I wanted. I’m good!
I headed out, hit a garage sale that I passed on the way home, then was driving and deciding where to eat and happened to drive by church. It didn’t take much to persuade me to pull in, I’ve got enough things to take care of that I figured I better take the chance while I had it. So here’s what I have done in the 4 hours I have been here:
- Attempted to teach someone how to duplicate the sermon CD’s but hit some roadblocks, I promised to document it and be able to show her without adding to the confusion.
- Messed with EasyWorship2007, just downloaded last Sunday
- Got familiar with SongSelect, that is an awesome resource
- Someone came in and we talked for awhile, made the connection that she was the one I was supposed to call (I never knew her last name)
- Started writing a post (not this one)
- As I sat in the sound booth looking across an empty Worship Center, realized that the video camera should be by the pole in the back, directly in front of center stage.
- Unhooked the video camera, carried it, on the tripod to it’s new home, plugged it in and hooked it up, hooked it into the video mixer. Sweet!
- Started cleaning out a cabinet in the sound booth
- Wrote some more on my postÂ
- Zoom in and out works by remote from the sound booth. Sweet!
- Adjusted lights on stage, getting the camera set, much better picture than what we normally get from the sound booth
- Continued cleaning cabinet
- Found a Jimmy Buffett CD in the cabinet among a stack of CDs. Sweet!
- Took out Passion CD and turned up Buffett
- Found a notebook documenting sound booth processes
- Learned how to turn the speakers on in the ceiling of the lobby and hallways. Sweet!
- Turned em on then wandered the halls seeing how they sounded
- Realized that not only is Buffett jammin’ in the Worship Center, but now throughout the entire church. Sweet!
- Turned ‘em off, need to play with it some more
- Wrote some more on post
- Played with video camera remote, zooming in and out. Sweet!
- Tired of cleaning cabinet, one shelf is organized, crammed what was left back in the remaining 2 shelves
- Brought camera on tripod back to it’s original home
- Wrote this post
- I think I need dinner, it’s 10:18, family is probably home
That’s my evening, in a wierd way, it’s been fun.Â
By the way, we did have a work night last Tuesday night and replaced a bunch of flood lights and spot lights. Also, redirected them, lighting on stage is much more even and balanced now.
How was your evening?
