This Week’s Videos

A short video can really enhance a message and in today’s world, it’s not hard to do this kind of thing. You can buy a downloadable 1-3 minute video for generally $10-$20 and I have been doing this nearly every week for the past several months.
This afternoon, as I was scrambling to get the Veteran’s Day video setup for Sunday, I asked myself a question, actually 2 questions. The first question was why am I doing this at the very last possible minute? I left town as soon as I finished today and won’t be back until late Saturday night. The second question was, why don’t I share the video I run in church on Sunday on here?
So, I’ll start doing a weekly feature, highlighting the video we use. This might be a way to draw attention to the many quality video producers out there and maybe inspire you to start using short videos in your service to enhance the message. I’m not sure if I’ll share what we do before or after, offhand, I think after, unless it’s a holiday weekend, like this Sunday.
This Week’s Videos
This will become more formalized but for this weekend, I’ll share now. We are finishing up a series called Kingdom, sub-titled HisSpace and there is this week and next and it’s done. Several weeks ago, we decided to use One Need for this Sunday and it just so happens that it’s a free download right now at WorshipHouse. It was produced by Erwin Brothers Motion Pictures. It’s a great video that shows that all of us, no matter where we are in life, have one need, Jesus.
We normally play the video right after offering and just before the message.
This weekend, we will show a second video because we are also honoring veterans for Veteran’s Day. The video I chose, just this afternoon, was For Freedom, produced by eleven72. There were some other Veteran’s Day appropriate videos but this one just seemed to fit. This one will run after the first song, then someone will get up and acknowledge the veterans in the service.

Jim, I completely agree about using Video in messages, or even in worship. It helps to stimulate all the senses, its one thing for a person to hear a message or sermon, but to be able to visualize it, is another… I think by bring the visual element of video you can stimulate the brain in different ways and create a different mood, even with the same material.
You might take a look at http://open.lifechurch.tv/. They give away all the videos and graphics they produce, you might be able to find something there for a sermon in the future.
