This Sunday’s Videos

As I have mentioned, a new feature here is going to be a mention of what video(s) we are using at Fairview Christian Church each Sunday. Yesterday, we did 2 videos, a Veteran’s Day video called For Freedom and another video called One Need.  You can look back here for more details on that, if you want.

Upcoming Videos

This week, as I write this, I realize I do not have Sunday morning’s video identified yet.  It’s our last week in the Kingdom series and it’s called His Offering.  I plan to find the video by today or tomorrow at the latest.  My notes for the scriptures this week are at home, so I’ll do it tonight.

For Sunday night, we are devoting the entire time to giving thanks and the video will be Thanksgiving: A Heart Fully Alive, produced by my friend Cris at BeamerFilms.  Over the past week, we have had the opportunity to email back and forth and I have been able to learn more about what they are doing at BeamerFilms.  They are a small but growing company and they are impacting a lot of lives, it’s amazing.  I am getting familiar with all that they are doing and I would encourage you to check them out, as well.

There is a chance that you will hear more from Cris on this blog, in some form.  We are currently in negotiation, our agents are working out the mundane details. :)   Actually, that’s not true, but we are tossing some ideas around.  If nothing else, maybe he’ll be my proofreader. I know I need that as much as anyone.

Creative Planning Team

I had lunch with my pastor last week and one thing we talked about was his desire to have some sort of creative planning team to plan the entire service with every aspect coordinated.  That is really taking things up a notch, at least, but it’s something we are going to work toward.  That also means planning things out prior to the week of the service.  The sermons are planned out now months in advance, but for my part, I’m still trying to catch up and get ahead.

A couple of weeks ago, I showed up right as the first service was starting and the sound guy asked if the video was ready.  I was like ‘What are you talking about?  ohhhh noo! It will be as soon I buy it and download it!’  I had it picked out, I just spaced out getting it done.  We made it in the knick of time.  At that moment, I had a known issue of no sound coming out of the computer, so I had to also render it to DVD and we literally got it done less than a minute before we needed it.  It would have been ok if there was no video but I’m glad we made it.  The first service is sometimes referred to as the dress rehearsal, but it really shouldn’t be that way.

I’ll post the video for this Sunday morning soon.

Is every detail of your service planned out yet for this Sunday morning?

  1. It amazes me sometimes the similarities of churches across the nation going through the same things or have gone through the same things. The last minute video and the first service being called the dress rehearsal are two that I have been through. We have worked hard to implement much better planning and preparation to remedy those situations but what helped most was praying for God to send the people needed to pull it off.
Our pastor has also expressed interest in a creative planning team but that hasn’t happened yet. As with most things I just keep putting it out there and eventually it will happen.
    Thanks for the post!
