Tech Team – We Have Only Just Begun

Tonight, six of us met at church and chatted for a few minutes while I shared some of my vision with them about where we were headed, then we prayed then we got busy.  We tackled some PC issues, breathed some life back into a brand new Dell in the sound booth for audio recording and playback that died before ever being put into production.  We fixed some other miscellaneous issues and also installed four or five gels in the spots and floods.

Overall, it was a great night.  It’s fun to see things take shape and begin to share about the direction we are going.  We’ll meet off and on between now and year end then we will probably meet consistently every other week or maybe every week.  I could easily do every week, I just don’t want to burn anyone out.

There are plenty of little things to do and plenty of things that will pave the way for where we are going.  I have a great team and we have only just begun.

  1. Jim, that’s great. Isn’t it awesome to feel momentum start to push through? As you begin to accomplish things together, you’ll gain more trust in your team (and FROM your team).

We just had our Media Dept. Christmas Party. As we were counting how many people serve, I was reminded that when I started here at Crossroads (www.mycrossroads.org) almost six years ago, we were a team of roughly seven. Now, we’re somewhere around twenty staff, contract workers, and volunteers!

Keep it up, man. Sounds like things are really happening there.

We just had a video director and lighting director’s meeting where we ate dinner at our worship leader’s house, then watched some concert videos and talked about the staging, lighting, directing, and camera work on the videos. It was very productive and bonding for us.

Just last night I left 4 guys working up at the church working on lighting for our Christmas show while I attended my son’s orchestra concert.

Sounds like you’ve got some people excited about being able to contribute. Isn’t it nice not to be doing it all yourself?

Great job involving your team in taking care of all those little odds and ends. I’m sure it would be easier and quicker for you to just do everything yourself, but it pays great dividends to have your team involved and feeling ownership in the ministry.
