April 3-4, 2008 is MinistryTECH in Oklahoma City, then the next day, April 5, is the Church IT Roundtable. As of last week, I am registered for both
As I talked to my pastor about going, he wondered who else I could take from my ministry team and after pondering that question, I knew Mike Brown was the guy. Mike was someone that thought he had no interest in the tech team, but over lunch one day, I shared more about what we do and he is totally in. Tech Arts is much more descriptive than simply tech team and Mike has jumped in with both feet. Yesterday, he walked around the building, even up on stage during worship, shooting footage for the Easter video project we are working on.
I haven’t firmed up hotel reservations yet but I need to soon. For now, Mike and I are sleeping in my car but we will be there.
Are you going to MinistryTECH and CITRT? If so, where are you staying? It would be fun to stay in the same hotel where others are staying. I really don’t want to sleep in my car.
I really don’t want to sleep in your car either!
No conferences for me this year. We’re in the middle of a capital stewardship campaign, and my fellow department heads and I (with some prodding from the lead pastor) decided to use the money we’d spend on trips for the new building (architects and acoustical engineers don’t come cheap).
Have a great trip, though. OKC is cool, but it’s no Tulsa…
I’m bummed that you won’t be there, Richard but you do what you gotta do sometimes. I’m sure our paths will cross as some point, even more than they already have.
Yeah, I’m not really an IT guy @ my church. I’m the Media Director, although, when there’s a problem, before calling the (contract labor) IT guys, my extension gets buzzed.
The conferences I go to are for technical and creative arts: C3, Willow Creek Arts, NAB, etc.
I’m considering MinistryTECH, but I’m unsure about CITRT. Have you been before? What’s the primary discussion topic? I’m not really worried about the $15, but is it worth the extra day?
We’re going but haven’t made any travel arrangements yet. Looking forward to seeing you there.
I don’t know where I’m staying either! Somewhere inexpensive. Due to our recent capital campaign, finances are still tight. But the Roundtables are well worth it, and I hope MinistryTECH will be as well!
I’ve been to NAB once (Richard mentioned it), with our media guys a few years ago. Interesting, and huge (and my only trip to Vegas!), but the CITRT group beats them hands-down for connections and information!
See you there!
