About
Posted on August 2, 2005
I am Jim Walton, and I am married with 1 beautiful wife, Mary, 2 kids, 1 very long, 6 toed-freak dog, 1 spastic terrier-ish dog and 1 psychotic cat that will not go away. We live in southwest Missouri.
By day, I am a JDE analyst, programmer, troubleshooter, fixer-upper and all around great guy for a large, made to order (MTO) cabinet manufacturer.
In 2007, I had the privilege at Fairview Christian Church to give the Tech Ministry a name, meaning I stepped in the middle of the people currently serving and began questioning why we were doing some things and also began implementing some changes to take the use of technology to the next level within this church. In the process, I said, “Hey look, we have a tech ministry!”
I led this ministry for about a year and a half until recently stepping down from that role. Now I serve as an advisor to this ministry and pray that God will continue to use technology more all the time as a tool to spread the message of Christ in this church. I am proud of this team of servants for the work we did together and excited for what lies ahead for them.
Of course, my true passion is equipping the church with technology to reach people for Christ and writing about it.
With this blog, my intent is to network with other like-minded people and share thoughts, ideas and dreams on church tech, leadership and other relevant things.
I determined a long time ago that I don’t know it all, so this is a continuous education for me.
My other site is JimWalton.org, which serves as an online resume, of sorts.
Finally, I leave you with the much dreaded disclaimer. This blog is the product of me alone, my thoughts, my experiences, my interests, my observations and my ideas. It is not representative of Fairview Christian Church or any other church or organization I may be associated with. It’s truly all about me!
